Today we watched the senior children perform their Show Case.
We were so impressed with their dancing. They told stories about Te Waipounamu by dancing - there were some very clever ideas (and some very teary adults!). We also go to watch the Kapa Haka and Wearable Arts children perform. Good luck to the children performing tonight. We were an excellent audience - we knew to
Today, just before morning tea, Max delivered our class a special treat.
We each got an ice block as a thank you and well done on such a great Show Case. We thought this was wonderful - thank you Mrs Warren for organising this. We were very lucky yesterday because Mrs Allen brought the Wearable Arts children and their costumes into our classroom. They got changed in our room and then we were able to ask lots of questions about their costumes and have a look at them close up. We loved what the children designed and felt proud of them. These children did a wonderful job of their costumes. We loved the way they used interesting things to make their outfits and though the light were very clever.
Our Show Case was amazing.
The children have worked so hard all term and they loved having an audience. Yesterday we made these two clips. The first is a reflection on how the children felt during the Show Case - we did this orally rather than writing it down because we were all so tired :) The second clip is us reflecting on our performance using SOLO. Some children are really starting to reflect accurately on their own learning and others still find it harder to work out the level they are at - so some see themselves more advanced and others are quite harsh on themselves! We decided on the criteria for each level together as a class After a term of wonderful learning our Show Case finally came together today.
I was so incredibly proud of our wonderful children as they performed to two full houses today! The children have spent a term learning about Te Waiponaumu - in our case a big focus was on Early Settlers and the way the and looked back in those days. They have also spent a lot of time learning about singing, dancing and acting. Our Show Case put all of this learning together. The children created a dance based upon their knowledge and understanding of using space, different levels, timing and being aware of each other on the stage. They shared their ideas and made agreed decisions on the final ideas to be included in the dance - a true exercise in learning about compromise, cooperation, pride and coping with disappointment! They have practised their item many times and each time it has got better and better. This week we have only danced in front of audiences! A huge well done to the children for outstanding performances and for making so many people so proud of you. Thanks so much to all of our families for supporting us so much. I hope you smiled a lot tonight :) Thanks to Rose for this clip - if you have any to add please send them along :) Click here to see us in action Today we had a huge audience as we did our final technical rehearsal. I was so proud of our wonderful children who did an outstanding job today and I know they will be even more amazing tomorrow. We had fancy lighting, microphones and lots of applause - it was an amazing feeling. We also enjoyed being part of the audience for the Year One show. Huge thanks to Becky for being our official photographer. These photos look amazing and will be used as part of our school reports next term too. I was also very impressed with the way some lovely older children came to help tie hair ribbons at morning tea time too!
This art project is now complete and looks fantastic up on the wall.
Today was our dress rehearsal - we looked fantastic and did a great job of our dance.
I was so proud of our wee class. We have been having fun learning a new game. Today was a perfect day to be outside playing in the sun! Our game is lots of fun. We are learning
Today when we were outside Room 5 saw us and came to join in - it was great fun as we played a game against them! |
