We have learned some words and hand signs that reflect the different stages of SOLO thinking.
We are aiming to be at extended abstract but we realise we are at different levels for different tasks.
It would be great for you to have a chat to your child about the SOLO level they consider themselves to be at for different tasks - and more importantly what they need to do to reach the next stage of the rubric.
This week we used SOLO to help extend our writing ideas.
We had a picture of some lionesses in some water.
We wrote about what we could see, what we thought was happening and what it made us wonder.
It took all week to complete the writing because we were working so hard to use descriptive language and to link our ideas.
This is the SOLO rubric we used to help us challenge ourselves and complete work to the best of our ability.
We are publishing our work too.
This is a link to the google doc our work is saved in - the formatting is not perfect in this doc and not everyone's work is published yet. I will add to it as I publish more of the stories. The formatting is muddled in the google doc but is fine in the word doc I'm typing it into - when they are all ready to be printed we will display this work in our classroom.
