We learned that QR Codes are bar codes and that we can scan them to discover things.
QR codes are on lots of things like bananas, toy packets, advertising, food packets and lots of other things too. We are going to keep a watch out for QR codes around our house and in the shops.
To read a QR code you need a QR scanner on the ipad or a smart phone. Some of us might be lucky enough to add this app to our ipads at home.
We learned how to scan a QR code.
Next we split into groups and scanned some QR codes in our classroom. Each QR code we scanned asked a question about St Albans School and the learning we have been doing. Sometimes we needed to write an answer down, sometimes we needed to tell our buddy something and sometimes we had to do things like run around the fitness track or sing a nursery rhyme.
We worked well in our teams. It was a noisy time because we were all busy working with our friends.
Our teachers felt proud of us because
- we listened to a lot of instructions and then followed them really well
- we took turns at being the ipad person and the recorder
- our teams worked cooperatively
- we did lots of problem solving on our own
- we stayed on task
- we had fun
Next Friday we will work with Room 15 again to have another go at using QR codes.
Perhaps some people will have a turn at home too?! :)
