WeToday our class made me so proud.
I gave each group of children the instructions we worked through together last week and asked them to create the rocket animation on their own.
I was expecting lots of questions and lots of children needing some help - I was SO wrong!
These amazing children worked through the instructions on their own and managed to solve lots of problems by thinking things through logically. I was so proud as I watched them all.
This led to the Room14 children taking on the role of teacher when we worked with Room13 later in the day. At this time we buddied Room14 and 13 children together - Room14 were the experts who taught the Room13 children how to use Scratch. Tomorrow they will teach them how to complete the rocket animation. We are also ready to start our next project about a Rock Band.
Thomas has really taken to coding and has spent time at home practising Scratch. This afternoon he had a special role and became our class expert - he didn't work with a buddy, instead he walked around the room and helped lots of children. I loved the look of pride on Thomas's face as I explained his role to him. I also loved the way he helped by explaining things rather than doing them for other people. Great work Thomas.
We had two classes of children working in Room 14 today and we didn't need to stop the children at all! They were so focused and on task . It amazes me how much intuition the children have when it comes to tasks like coding!
